America’s Warrior Partnership (AWP) announced Thursday that the Indy Warrior Partnership (IWP) is its latest affiliate that will use the Community Integration model.
The focus of IWP is to connect with veterans, their family members, and caregivers to understand better what they need to improve their quality of life, which will help to prevent veteran suicide. Coordinated services are recreational activities, volunteerism, and purposeful engagement with other veterans, and occasionally housing, employment, access to education, or healthcare available through community partners.
“We are proud to have the Indy Warrior Partnership supporting veterans locally,” said AWP President and CEO Jim Lorraine. “By connecting on a local level, in a veteran’s community, we can provide a one size fits one approach, which is so vital in providing a higher quality of life, and ultimately, decreasing veteran suicide.”

The program lead for IWP is Matt Hall, an Army Officer, who most recently served in Civil Affairs at CENTCOM in Tampa, Fla., served in the Army Reserve and Army National Guard, and was deployed on two tours in Afghanistan. He is now back in Indianapolis, where he previously worked as the City Director of Veteran Affairs and Veteran Service Officer.
“Connecting with the veterans who are not in crisis has been a goal in Indiana for years,” Hall said. “We know some veterans are living great and having a great life with their friends and families. But we also know that those veterans are one significant life event away from needing those resources that the local, state and national communities provide. IWP is a way to connect with those veterans and let them know that those resources are here and that they can use them when they need or want them.”
