Indiana Youth Advisory Board rebrands as Indiana Foster Youth Alliance for a new decade

The Indiana Youth Advisory Board is marking its 10th anniversary by looking toward the future with a new name for the next decade and beyond.

The Board, formerly known as IYAB, gathered in Indianapolis to celebrate a decade of empowering teens and young adults in foster care at the 10th annual Youth Conference. The peer-led leadership program will now be known as the Indiana Foster Youth Alliance (IFYA) to better reflect that the group is made up entirely of those with lived experience in foster care.

The Indiana Foster Youth Alliance will remain a joint program supported by Foster Success and the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS). The Alliance offers input into issues that affect Hoosiers currently in, or who have aged out of foster care.

“Although the name is changing, the organization will still provide an outlet for teens and young adults who have lived in foster care to play an active role in shaping their own futures and helping improve the foster care system,” said Foster Success Assistant Director of Youth Engagement Diana Brownlow.

More than 175 teens, young adults, and foster care professionals were on hand for the name change announcement.
