The Indiana Wind Symphony will present “Suite Dreams,” a concert celebrating familiar melodies and imaginative musical storytelling, at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 12 at the Payne & Mencias Palladium at the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel.

The program highlights composer Steven Bryant’s “Suite Dreams,” a work inspired by the iconic melody from Gustav Holst’s “First Suite in E-Flat.” It will also feature “Sweet New Moon” by Yukiko Nishimura, “Suite from Mass” by Leonard Bernstein, and “First Suite in E-flat for Military Band” by Gustav Holst, among other “sweet” musical selections.

Additionally, the concert will highlight the Indiana Wind Symphony Young Artists Concerto Competition winner, Caliel Mosley, a 16-year-old clarinetist from Crown Point, Ind. Mosley studies under John Bruce Yeh and Teresa Reilly, and he is a scholarship fellow of the Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative, an intensive training and scholarship program for select young musicians in the Chicago area.

“We had submissions to our concerto competition from so many talented students around Indiana, but Caliel stood out among the pack,” said Jay Gephart, music director of the Indiana Wind Symphony. “His talent and professionalism at such a young age are remarkable, and we are thrilled to have him join us on stage for this concert.”

As an added feature, advanced musicians from local high schools who were nominated by their teachers will perform alongside members of the Indiana Wind Symphony during two pieces on the program. This provides students with the opportunity to experience performing in a professional ensemble setting.

The concert begins at 4 p.m. on April 12 at the Payne & Mencias Palladium in Carmel. Tickets start at $22, with $10 tickets available for students and seniors.
