Program enhances water quality, reliability & fire protection
Indiana American Water will conduct water main flushing in the Noblesville service area beginning overnight on Sunday, Sept. 8 and continuing through Tuesday, Sept. 10 in the downtown area from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Flushing of the remaining areas of Noblesville and northern parts of Fishers will start on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and run through Friday, Nov. 22 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The company conducts the annual maintenance program to assure high-quality water service and to ensure fire hydrants are operational.
According to Noblesville Senior Operations Superintendent Greg Stephens, “Water main and fire hydrant flushing is an important part of a regular maintenance program for water distribution systems. Indiana American Water consistently meets or exceeds all drinking water standards.”
No interruptions in water service are anticipated as a result of the work. Customers may experience a slight drop in water pressure or temporary water discoloration while this program is underway. Customers should refrain from doing laundry during the time of day the flushing program is taking place in or near their neighborhood.
If your tap water is discolored, Indiana American Water recommends running the cold water taps only, at the lowest level of the house for about three to five minutes until the water clears. Using more than one faucet allows the water to clear more quickly.
Additional information on water main flushing is available at this link.
The water main flushing will be performed by Indiana American Water crews. They will be working out of trucks identified with the company logo. All employees will also have photo ID badges. In addition, customers can log into their MyWater account to sign up for direct messages for emergencies, service interruptions or routine maintenance in their area.
