IHSAA announces soccer sectional pairings

Several Hamilton County teams will host sectional matches

The pairings for the IHSAA soccer sectional were announced last Sunday, with several Hamilton County teams ready to renew old sectional rivalries.

Boys tournament

Noblesville will host Class 3A Sectional 8 at the Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex. In first-round action, Anderson will play Pendleton Heights, with Muncie Central taking on the No. 1-ranked Millers. The first-round winners will play each other in the first semifinal, with No. 6 Fishers and No. 18 Hamilton Southeastern facing off in the other semifinal.

Zionsville is the site of 3A Sectional 10, a seven-team event. No. 2 Carmel plays Westfield in the first round, with the winner playing Arsenal Tech in the first semifinal. The other first-round games will see Shortridge taking on North Central, then Crispus Attucks plays Herron, with the winners playing in the second semifinal.

Guerin Catholic will host 2A Sectional 26. The No. 13 Golden Eagles play No. 2 Brebeuf Jesuit in the first round, followed by another first-round game between No. 11 Hamilton Heights and No. 8 Heritage Christian. The winners will face off in the first semifinal, with Cardinal Ritter and Tri-West playing the other semifinal.

In Class 1A, Sheridan will host Sectional 39. First-round games will feature Anderson Prep Academy playing Tri-Central, followed by a game between No. 15 Muncie Burris and Taylor. Those winners will play in the first semifinal, with the Blackhawks taking on Liberty Christian in the second semifinal.

University plays in Sectional 40 at Park Tudor. The first-round games will be Scecina vs. International, followed by Tindley taking on Lapel. The winners play in the first semifinal, followed by a semifinal between the No. 17 Trailblazers and the host, No. 8 Panthers.

Girls tournament

Hamilton Southeastern is the host of Class 3A Sectional 8 this year. The No. 2-ranked Royals play Anderson in the first round, followed by a game between No. 3 Noblesville and Muncie Central. The winners move to the first semifinal, followed by the second semifinal between Fishers and Pendleton Heights.

Carmel will host 3A Sectional 10. The No. 1 Greyhounds will play Crispus Attucks, followed by a first-round game between No. 6 Westfield and North Central. Those winners play in the first semifinal, with Arsenal Tech and Zionsville playing in the other semifinal.

In Class 2A, Hamilton Heights will travel to Yorktown to play in Sectional 24. The Huskies play Jay County in the second first-round match, following the opener between Centerville and Delta. The winners play in the first semifinal, followed by the second semifinal between Yorktown and New Castle.

Guerin Catholic plays in Sectional 26 at Speedway, a five-team site. The No. 3 Golden Eagles will play the winner of a first-round match between No. 1 Brebeuf Jesuit and No. 17 Speedway in the second semifinal. The first semifinal features No. 2 Bishop Chatard and Lebanon.

Sheridan will host Class 1A Sectional 37, which has seven teams. The Blackhawks play Taylor in a first-round match with the winner to play Tipton in the semifinals. The other first-round matches are Tri-Central vs. Elwood and Eastern vs. Rossville, with the winners playing off in the second semi.

University travels to Cardinal Ritter for Sectional 42, a four-team site. Ritter plays Covenant Christian in the first semifinal, with the Trailblazers taking on Bethesda Christian in the second semifinal. The winners will play for the championship.
