IHSAA announces boys & girls soccer tournmanet pairings

The IHSAA revealed the sectional pairings for this year’s boys and girls soccer tournaments last Sunday.

In the boys tournament, there will be four sectional sites across Hamilton County. Hamilton Southeastern hosts the seven-team Class 3A Sectional 8, which begins next Monday (Oct. 7) with Anderson playing Richmond in a first-round game.

The first-round continues Tuesday, Oct. 8 with Pendleton Heights playing the host Royals in the first game that evening, to be followed by the second game featuring Mount Vernon taking on Muncie Central.

The semifinals are set for Wednesday, Oct. 9. Fishers plays the winner of Monday’s game in the first semifinal, with the Tuesday winners squaring off in the second semifinal.

Carmel’s Brian Murray Stadium is the site of 3A Sectional 9, a six-team event. Three-time defending 3A state champion Noblesville opens play on Monday by taking on Westfield in a first-round game; that will be followed by Zionsville facing off against North Central.

The two Monday winners play each other Wednesday in the first semifinal. The Greyhounds will take on Brebeuf Jesuit in the second semi.

Guerin Catholic and Hamilton Heights travel to Park Tudor to compete in 2A Sectional 24, a seven-team site. Both teams will play their first-round games on Tuesday: The Huskies take on Tri-West and the Golden Eagles play Park Tudor.

The Tuesday winners will take on each other in the second Wednesday semifinal. Heritage Christian plays the first semifinal against the winner of a Monday first-round game between Lapel and Western Boone.

Two county teams will meet in the first round of 1A Sectional 40 at Southmont, a six-team site. University and Sheridan play the opening game Monday, followed by another first-round game between Bethesda Christian and North Putnam.

The two Monday winners play in the first semifinal on Wednesday, with Covenant Christian taking on the host Mounties in the second semifinal.

Girls pairings

Noblesville’s Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex will host the seven-team Class 3A Sectional 8. The two-time defending state champion Millers play the sectional opener on Tuesday, taking on Anderson in the first game.

There will be two first-round games on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Pendleton Heights squares off against Muncie Central in the first game, then Hamilton Southeastern plays Fishers in the second game. The semifinals take place on Thursday, Oct. 10, with Mount Vernon playing the Tuesday winner in the opening semifinal and the Wednesday winners facing off in the second semifinal.

Two county teams will play at Zionsville for 3A Sectional 9, a seven-team site. Carmel plays Lawrence Central in the Tuesday opener. Wednesday’s action begins with North Central taking on Cathedral, then the host Eagles play Westfield in the second game.

Lawrence North plays the Tuesday winner in the first semifinal on Thursday, with the Wednesday winners facing off in the second semifinal.

Guerin Catholic and Hamilton Heights will play at 2A Sectional 26 at Brebeuf Jesuit, a five-team site. The Huskies take on the host Braves on Tuesday, the only game that night.

The winner will advance to play Park Tudor in the second semifinal. The first semifinal will see the defending 2A state champion Golden Eagles play Bishop Chatard.

In Class 1A, Sheridan plays in the five-team Sectional 38 at Lafayette Central Catholic. The Blackhawks will face the winner of Tuesday’s first-round game between Rossville and North White in Thursday’s second semifinal. The first semifinal features Faith Christian playing the host Knights.

University plays in 1A Sectional 41, a seven-team site at Heritage Christian. The Trailblazers play in Thursday’s first semifinal against the winner of a Tuesday first-round game between Cardinal Ritter and Covenant Christian. The other two first-round games take place Wednesday: Scecina takes on Bethesda Christian in the opener, then Christel House plays the host Eagles in the second game.

All championship games at each sectional take place on Saturday.
