Indiana Hospital Association President Brian Tabor issued the following statement Thursday regarding the two hospital shootings this week in Ohio and Oklahoma.
“Today, we mourn the loss of seven more victims to gun violence in our country, this time at medical facilities in Ohio and Oklahoma where patients seek care and comfort.
“In the broader discussion of how we must unite to prevent such attacks and address mental health, it cannot be lost that we are also facing an epidemic of serious, physical assaults against Hoosier health care workers. Hospitals are constantly working to improve safety in our facilities and protect patients, their families, and our frontline heroes. However, recent events demonstrate that no place, even our sanctuaries of healing, are safe from violence.
“We must do more, and hospitals pledge to play a leading role in their communities to address this crisis.”
