Hamilton Heights’ boys basketball team finished fifth at the Ryder Realty Holiday Classic last weekend at Switzerland County.
The Huskies dropped their first game 67-51 to Paoli last Friday. The Rams led 17-12 after one quarter and 33-28 at halftime, then outscored Heights 34-23 in the second half.
Rees Knapp and Dreydin Serna both scored 10 points, with Serna pulling five rebounds. Tyler Champion and Carson Felger both dished out four assists and Felger blocked two shots.
The Huskies played rebounded in their second game, beating East Central 47-38. Heights slowly built its lead throughout the game, going up 15-11 after one and 25-18 at halftime.
Gavin Saunders scored 12 points, followed by Knapp with 10. Champion collected seven rebounds and made five steals for the Huskies.
Heights played Trinity Lutheran in the fifth-place game last Saturday and won 79-56. The Cougars led 15-14 after one quarter, but it was all Huskies after that: Heights led 36-23 at halftime and poured in 29 points in the third period for a 65-39 advantage.
Knapp scored 18 points, followed by Saunders with 16 and Felger with 12. Drew Duncan pulled seven rebounds, with Felger collecting six. Champion handed out seven assists and made six steals, while Saunders dished out five assists.
The Huskies are 6-5 and are off until Jan. 10 when they play at Northwestern.
