Hamilton Southeastern girls track & field coach Julie Alano has been inducted into the Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026.

The annual Hall of Fame Ceremony recognizes and preserves the most outstanding performances, record-breaking achievements, and exceptional accomplishments of the selected Indiana athletes and coaches from across the state.

Alano has been the Royals’ head coach since 2006. Since she began, Southeastern has won 13 sectional championships, 10 regional titles and seven top-five finishes at the IHSAA state meet. The Royals won the state championship in 2018 and were state runners-up in 2017 and 2025.

Many of Alano’s relay teams have placed high in postseason national meets. In 2025, her Sprint Medley and Mixed 1,600 relay won the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Ore.

Alano also coached the cross country team for seven years with seven IHSAA sectional wins and six semi-state appearances. She has served the IATCCC since 2001 in several areas – president, secretary for 15 years and director of the annual coaching clinic eight years.

HSE Athletics said in a news release on its website that Alano has helped shape and develop “the women of HSE Track & Field and Indiana track & field as a whole through her leadership, dedication, and commitment to student-athletes, families and coaches.”

“We are proud to celebrate Coach Alano as a member of the 2026 Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame Class!”
