The Hamilton Southeastern volleyball team went 3-1 at the Brebeuf Jesuit Invitational on Saturday.
First, the Class 4A No. 4 Royals beat Brownsburg in a tight match, 25-18, 24-26, 15-13. Maddie Cole had nine kills and 1.5 blocks in the middle, with Delaney Garner putting down eight kills and 4.5 blocks. Olivia Phillips handed out 24 assists and served four aces. On defense, Kyla Berg collected nine digs and Lillian Leiner had eight digs.
Next up was Bloomington South, and HSE swept that match 25-16, 25-22. Taylor Shelton put down 12 kills, while Garner spiked six kills. Abby Weber added five kills and served three aces. Phillips dished out 25 assists and served nine aces.
Southeastern then beat Bishop Chatard in three sets, 16-25, 25-14, 15-5. Garner had 10 kills, with Shelton hitting eight kills and Grace Hunter spiking five. Carly Mills had 13 digs and Leiner had seven digs.
The victories put the Royals in the final, where they fell to 4A No. 2 Providence 25-22, 25-20. Shelton hit seven kills while Hunter had five kills. Weber also hit five kills and served three aces. Cole had a strong game in the middle with five kills and 4.5 blocks. Phillips handed out 21 assists and made seven digs, while Mills collected 13 digs.
Southeastern is 21-6 for the season and hosts Noblesville Thursday in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference match.
