Carmel bounced back from a tough Friday loss to defeat Fort Wayne Carroll 38-33 in a Saturday game at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
The Class 4A No. 8 Greyhounds got off to a strong start, leading 18-5 after the first quarter. The Chargers made a comeback in the middle periods, cutting Carmel’s lead to 24-14 by halftime and 30-26 after three quarters. But the Greyhounds were able to hold on in the fourth period.
Charlie Williams led Carmel with a solid all-around game of 14 points, four assists, three rebounds and two blocked shots. Brian Waddell led the Greyhounds rebounding with eight.
Carmel is 13-6 and will travel to Warren Central on Friday to finish Metropolitan Conference play.
