In conjunction with the National Wreaths Across America Day on Dec. 14, Horseshoe Prairie Chapter DAR members placed wreaths at the graves of five Revolutionary War patriots who are buried in Hamilton County: John Hair, Levi Holloway, George Dale, Davis Whelchel, Sr., and Eli Coverdale.

It has become an annual tradition for the Horseshoe Prairie Chapter to participate in the National Wreaths Across America Patriot Pair program by donating wreaths for placement at veterans’ graves wherever they are needed, and receive wreaths to lay at the gravesites of local Revolutionary War patriots.

Horseshoe Prairie Chapter members placing wreaths were Cheryl Garlinger, Pam Bollier, Shirley Smith, and Becky Nazarenus.

It is the mission of the National Wreaths Across America Day in December each year to “Remember, Honor and Teach by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, and at more than 3,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.”
