In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the SullivanMunce Cultural Center will present a special and expanded Gardens of Zionsville Tour, a two-day celebration of horticulture, art, history, and community.
Taking place on June 26 and 27, this year’s event introduces a compelling new highlight: six historic homes and gardens, five of which are recognized as Century Structures, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience the beauty of private landscapes alongside the rich architectural heritage of Zionsville. Inspired by this milestone year, the tour thoughtfully brings together gardens and historic homes, inviting guests to explore how our community has grown and flourished over time.
The festivities begin with the Gardens of Zionsville Kick-Off Party from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 26 at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center, 225 W. Hawthorne St.
This lively event honors the gardeners, artists, and volunteers who make the tour possible. Guests will enjoy live music, local wine, appetizers, and a creative “art make-and-take” activity. The party also includes a silent auction of potted planters designed by local gardeners, designers, and businesses, with proceeds benefiting the center’s cultural programming.
The Gardens of Zionsville Tour follows from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 27, offering a glimpse into six stunning private gardens paired with historic homes throughout Zionsville. This year’s tour invites guests to not only experience a variety of horticultural styles, but also to appreciate the stories and significance of the homes themselves, five of which are designated Century Structures as part of the SullivanMunce Cultural Center’s ongoing historic preservation efforts. Visitors will enjoy a meaningful blend of natural beauty and local history while supporting the Center’s mission to enrich the community through art, history, and genealogy.
New this year, guests will also enjoy a special surprise stop – an added experience designed to delight and inspire, with details to be revealed day of the event.
In addition to the tour and party, SullivanMunce will host a series of gardening talks and demonstrations in the weeks leading up to the event. Topics will include:
- Sustainable and eco-friendly gardening practices
- The importance of native plants and pollinator-friendly landscapes
- Creative container gardening techniques
- Garden design tips from local experts
These educational sessions provide attendees with hands-on opportunities to learn from experienced gardeners and horticulturists, fostering a deeper connection to the art of gardening and sustainable practices.
Attendees are also invited to visit the “Flora & Fauna” juried art exhibition, showcasing artworks that celebrate the beauty of plant and animal life. The exhibit, featuring Indiana artists, will be open during both the Kick-Off Party and the garden tour, with all pieces available for purchase.
Tickets for the Kick-Off Party are $50 (includes one garden tour ticket) or $40 (party only). Tickets for the Gardens of Zionsville Tour are $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the event, with discounted pricing for youth and children. Click here to get your tickets.
