Following last year’s theft of an inflatable Santa along Olio Road south of 96th Street, the community has one response: Line Olio Road with large, inflatable Santas.
If you live along Olio Road – or even if you don’t – you’re invited to get a large inflatable Santa Claus and show your Christmas spirit.
According to project organizers, the official inflation time is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, but any time that works with your schedule is fine.
Here a few things to keep in mind:
- Make sure the placement of the Santa Claus is on your own property, or have the owner’s permission to place Santa in the location.
- Make sure it is placed so it does not impede traffic or hinder motorists’ line-of-sight traveling on the road or at intersections.
- Make sure your Santa is securely anchored or restrained so that it does not blow into traffic. Do not anchor to any hydrants, utility equipment, or city or county poles or structures.
- Be careful of any power lines in area and maintain a safe distance.
This can and will be an amazing sight to see this Christmas if everyone joins in and makes this happen. With all the adversity in the country and the world, everyone could use a little inspiration.
