Hamilton County Commissioner Mark Heirbrandt was appointed to the Transportation Policy Steering Committee within the National Association of Counties (NACo) in October. As part of this committee, Heirbrandt will travel to Washington, D.C. to promote and communicate the infrastructure needs in Hamilton County.
The committee will focus on improving transportation and infrastructure, like roads and bridges, across the nation. One benefit of the committee includes contributing expertise regarding concerns about transportation directly to policymakers in Washington, D.C.
NACo is an association of county elected officials across the nation who advocate for county priorities in federal policymaking and optimize county and taxpayer resources. Nomination to the transportation policy committee requires that members stay informed of legislative and regulatory action regarding transportation.
“The expertise and engagement of our steering committee members is a main reason why Congress and federal agencies often look to NACo for feedback on policy decisions being made in Washington, D.C.,” said NACo President Mary Ann Bergeson in a press release.
Heirbrandt is looking forward to his work on the committee, saying, “This is a considerable opportunity for Hamilton County to have our concerns on the national stage, and I look forward to the chance to work with elected officials all across the country to upgrade our infrastructure.”
