Hamilton Heights Middle School (HHMS) Media Center Specialist Emily Beecher is a finalist for the Classroom Quarterback Award presented by the Indianapolis Colts and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Beechler has worked as a teacher at Heights for 23 years, spending the past 15 in the middle school Media Center.
The award recognizes teachers, administrators, nurses, and staff members who go above and beyond for their students, schools, and communities. Finalists were selected by a panel of educational professionals, the Indianapolis Colts, and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Finalists were selected on such criteria as the amount of involvement in school and/or community, degree of positive impact on the school and/or community, and demonstrated commitment to education, health and wellness initiatives, and other programming.
“Emily is a pillar of the Hamilton Heights community,” said HHMS Principal Jill Landers, who nominated Beechler for the award. “She has made a positive impact that goes far beyond her daily duties and expectations. She is the brainchild and bus driver of our district bookmobile, to encourage students’ love of reading, even when they aren’t in school. She is also the district wellness coordinator, and her initiatives help to motivate and encourage staff to be their best. Emily’s positive impact can be felt all over our community. I was so excited to see that she was one of the top 10 finalists. She is truly deserving, and I’m rooting for her to be number one!”
As a Top 10 Finalist, Beechler will receive a $100 Amazon gift card for school supplies, two tickets to the Colts’ first regular-season home game this year, and a Colts Swag Bag.
One finalist will be named the Classroom Quarterback of the Year and receive a $2,500 donation for his or her school. In addition, the winner will also receive a $100 Amazon gift card for school supplies, four tickets to the Colt’s first regular-season home game, and a Colts Swag Bag. The Classroom Quarterback of the Year will be announced later in the month.
