Heights boys drop road game to Marauders

Hamilton Heights’ boys team fought until the end before dropping a 59-52 away game at Mount Vernon on Friday.
The Marauders, ranked no. 20 in the IBCA one-class poll, led 15-12 after the first quarter and 27-17 at halftime. Luke Carroll helped keep the Huskies within shouting distance in the first half by scoring eight points.
Heights made a move in the third quarter, cutting Mount Vernon’s lead to 39-36 by the end of the period. Tillman Etchison scored seven points, including a 3-pointer, while Dean Mason knocked down two 3s. The Marauders scored 20 points in the fourth in order to hold on for the win.
Carroll scored 16 points and pulled seven rebounds to lead the Huskies. Etchison added 13 points and Isaac Tuma scored 11.
Heights is 6-6 and goes back on the road tonight, traveling to Sheridan for an all-county game.
