The Hamilton Heights baseball team was swept by Western this week in Hoosier Conference East Division play.
The Huskies played at the Panthers’ field on Tuesday, and nearly made a comeback before falling 8-6. Western scored six runs in the third inning, and that lead held through five innings.
Heights got on the board in the top of the sixth with three runs. Nick Hulen scored after John Irion reached on error, then Dillon Pitts hit a sacrifice fly to send Logan Hickman home. Kaleb Murray scored the third run on an error.
The Panthers put up two runs in the bottom of the sixth to lead 8-3. The Huskies got a big hit from Murray in the seventh, as Kaleb Murray’s left-field double scored three runs. Phoenix Vondersaar, Levi Chandler and Hickman all got home. Western got the next two outs to clinch the win.
Hickman had two hits, with Vondersaar, Dean Mason and Murray all getting one.
Western traveled to the Heights field on Wednesday, and won 10-1. Two Panthers pitchers, Christian Pownall and Mitchell Knepley, combined for a no-hitter.
The Huskies scored their run in the sixth inning when Mason got home on a wild pitch.
Heights is 3-4 and hosts Maconaquah on Friday.
