Hawks beat Taylor, stay perfect in HHC

Sheridan won a hard-fought game at Taylor Friday, Sept. 26, beating the Titans 22-13 to stay perfect in Hoosier Heartland Conference play.

Taylor scored in the first quarter, but the Blackhawks responded in the second period. Alex Cravens caught a six-yard pass from Brock Hagan with 11 seconds left in the quarter, then Hagan made a two-point conversion run to give Sheridan an 8-7 halftime lead.

The Hawks added another touchdown in the third period; Hayden Alexander zoomed 14 yards to the end zone. Cravens then struck again in the fourth quarter with a five-yard run, and John Barnes added two more points with a conversion run.

Sheridan led 22-7 after that. Taylor cut into that lead with a 24-yard touchdown reception with 2:10 left. The Titans tried an onside kick, but the Blackhawks recovered and held on for the win.

Cravens led the rushing with 89 yards.

Sheridan is 3-0 in conference play and 4-1 overall. The Blackhawks are back home this Friday, hosting Delphi to continue HCC action.
