Public invited to learn more about plans & preparations
Hamilton County will play host to an educational webinar about the Total Solar Eclipse at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 11. The hour-long discussion will highlight the major events being planned for the area, plans for emergency preparedness, the potential tourism impact, and important safety tips.
The webinar will feature a lineup of local experts including:
- William Turner, Carmel High School Planetarium: Providing educational perspectives and astronomical insights.
- Sarah Buckner, Hamilton County Tourism: Offering insights into prime viewing locations and tourism strategies.
- Shane Booker, Hamilton County Emergency Management: Discussing emergency preparedness and public safety measures.
- Jim Ginder, Hamilton County Health Department: Addressing safety precautions during the eclipse.
- Emily Latty, Hamilton County Parks and Recreation: Sharing details on eclipse-related events and merchandise.
“Hamilton County agencies have been planning for this event for well over a year now,” Hamilton County’s Communications Director Tammy Sander said. “We’re so excited about this rare astronomical event and we can’t wait to share everything we have planned with the community.”
