Experts offer tips & resources for talking to teens about abuse
The Hamilton County Health Department, in collaboration with Prevail, will play host to a webinar aimed at educating parents and guardians about teen dating violence. The free event will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25.
“Teen dating violence is a serious issue that can have lasting impacts on young people’s emotional and mental health,” said Kaylen Underhill, a health educator at the Hamilton County Health Department. “Understanding the signs of dating violence and knowing how to respond effectively is crucial for preventing long-term harm.”
The webinar will cover key topics such as recognizing the signs of dating violence, fostering open communication with teens, and accessing available resources and support services.
“Teens aren’t immune to dating violence,” Underhill added. “Unfortunately, they can experience it through physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. We hope to educate and empower parents and caregivers with the resources they need to help their teens navigate these challenging situations.”
