Hamilton County Federation of Democratic Women to hold discussion on immigration

As immigration takes center stage in public conversations across Hamilton County, the Hamilton County Federation of Democratic Women (HCFDW) invites residents to move beyond headlines and rhetoric for an afternoon of informed discussion with local immigration removal defense and humanitarian law attorney Maggie McMillan at Eller House, 7050 E. 116^th St., Suite 100, Fishers.

From 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 26, McMillan will discuss the realities of the U.S. immigration system, address common misconceptions, and share insight into how immigration policy affects families, employers, and communities throughout Indiana. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions during an open discussion.

“Immigration is one of the most complex areas of federal law, yet public conversations about it are often reduced to slogans and talking points,” HCFDW Co-Chair Libby Hogan said. “Many proposals may sound straightforward on the surface, but they can carry profound consequences for families, employers, our local economy, and the fabric of our communities. When we make decisions without understanding those complexities, we risk creating policies that do more harm than good. Our hope is that this discussion gives people the opportunity to ask hard questions, hear from a local legal expert, and leave with a deeper understanding of an issue that affects all of us.”
