Golf: Westfield boys beat Guerin Catholic & Carmel, Golden Eagles come back to win

The Westfield boys golf team won a three-team meet with Guerin Catholic and Carmel Tuesday at Bridgewater.

The Shamrocks scored a 292, just edging out the Golden Eagles’ score of 294. The Greyhounds totaled 321. Westfield’s Jake Cesare carded a one-under par 71 for medalist honors. Other Shamrocks scores were Alec Cesare 72, Gabe Nixon 73, Will Harvey 75, Brock Detamore 77, Cam Kooi 78 and Matt Shull 81.

Jacob Modleski scored a 72 to lead Guerin Catholic, followed by Eli Wessel 73, Leo Wessel 74 and Zach Thieme 75. Owen Nielsen 80 and Gabe Berglund 88.

Joe Armfield was Carmel’s low man with a 77, including a one-under on the back nine. Other scores were Daniel Montgomery 81, Mason Price 82, Austin Kent 84, Kent Fujita 88 and Ethan Hoagland 89.

Guerin Catholic and Westfield played again on Wednesday, joining Lebanon for a three-team meet at Ulen Country Club. The Golden Eagles won that meet; scores were not available at press time.
