Golf: Carmel wins MIC meet

The Carmel girls golf team won the Metropolitan Conference championship, which took place Tuesday at Wood Wind Golf Club.
The Greyhounds scored 296, well ahead of second-place Center Grove’s 324. Katie Kuc was the individual medalist, with a score of 69.
Elizabeth Hedrick was the individual runner-up with a 71, with Sydney Longstreth taking fourth by carding a 75. Ava Hedrick and Ava Nguyen each scored 81s. Kuc, Longstreth and both Elizabeth and Ava Hedrick were named to the All Conference Team.
“They all stayed focused on their games and their personal goals during the round,” said Carmel coach Kelly Kluesner. “They were able to capitalize on some great birdie opportunities and played consistent rounds.”
Team scores: Carmel 296, Center Grove 324, North Central 394, Lawrence Central 417, Lawrence North 447, Pike 477, Warren Central 477, Ben Davis 503.

The Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet took place Tuesday at Bear Slide.
Zionsville won the meet with a 307, edging out Westfield’s 309. The Shamrocks had all six of their golfers earn All Conference honors: Jocelyn Bruch (74), Sophie McGinnis (76), Natalie Shupe (77), Allie Hildebrand (82), Cate Jensen (83) and Brette Hananvan (83).
Noblesville finished third with a 327. Ellie Karst (79), Sarah Brenneman (81) and Caroline Whallon (83) all earned places on the All Conference team.
Hamilton Southeastern took fourth by carding 340. Ashley Marcinko scored an 81 to earn All Conference honors.
Fishers finished sixth with a 398. Caitlyn Kim led the Tigers with a 93.
