Golf: Another close contest between GC & Westfield

Another week, another close finish between the Westfield and Guerin Catholic boys golf teams.

The two squads traveled to Glendarin Hills for the Angola Invitational. Both teams scored 290, with the Shamrocks getting the victory on the fifth-man score.

Cam Kooi and Alec Cesare both totaled 71s for Westfield, with Will Harvey adding a 72. Jake Cesare carded a 76 and Ryan Cesare scored a 77.

The Golden Eagles’ Jacob Modleski was the meet medalist with a 66. Eli Wessel and Zach Thieme both scored 74s, Leo Wessel carded a 76 and Owen Nielsen scored a 79.

Hamilton Southeastern won the Brownsburg Invitational, which took place last Saturday at The Trophy Club.

The Royals totaled a 295, and also had the meet medalist: Cole Starnes went two under par for a 70. Kai Warner added a 74, followed by Mattingly Upchurch 75, Nate Benson 76, Lane Zedrick 79 and Tyler Marcinko 80.

Carmel finished third at the Trophy Club with a season-low 302. Kent Fujita led the Greyhounds with a one under par 71, placing him second individually. Other Carmel scores were Daniel Montgomery 75, Mason Price 76, Joseph Armfield 80, Austin Kent 80 and Ethan Hoagland 86.
