Guerin Catholic rebounded on the second day of the Phil Cox Memorial Tournament at Kokomo, winning two games on Friday to finish in fifth place at the tournament.
In a consolation game, the Golden Eagles beat Columbia City 54-40. Guerin Catholic steadily built a comfortable first-half lead, going up 26-18 by halftime, then pulled away in the third quarter by outscoring Columbia City 19-9.
Four players reached double figures for the Golden Eagles. Lucas Parker and Ty Sanders both scored 13 points, while Dylan Murans and Kamea Chandler each scored 11. Parker made three 3-pointers. Sanders collected nine rebounds, with Jack Cherry and Robert Sorensen both getting five rebounds. Cherry also handed out five assists.
Guerin Catholic took care of South Bend Riley 54-36 in the fifth-place game. The Golden Eagles outscored Riley in all four quarters, leading 18-9 after one period and 31-16 at halftime.
Bryson Cardinal led GC with 13 points, while Sorensen scored 11. Cherry pulled eight rebounds, with Parker and Cardinal collecting six each. Chandler had five rebounds and Sorensen dished out four assists.
The Golden Eagles are 5-5 and host Lebanon Tuesday.
