Guerin Catholic improved to 3-0 with a 31-7 win over Heritage Christian in a Friday away game.
Jack Cherry got the Golden Eagles on the board with a 24-yard touchdown reception from Ryan Zimmerman, and Peyton Butts followed that up with the extra-point kick. Heritage responded with a long rushing touchdown, and the game was tied at 7-7 after one quarter.
But then it was all Guerin Catholic. A 15-yard touchdown throw from Zimmerman to Harrison Miller put GC on top for good, followed by Jack Linden making a two-point run. Butts then made a 37-yard field goal to give the Golden Eagles an 11-point halftime lead, then a third-quarter field goal moved Guerin Catholic ahead 21-7 after three quarters.
Zimmerman threw his third touchdown pass of the game in the fourth quarter, this one a 46-yarder to Alex Gibbs. Butts made the extra-point kick again, then finished the GC scoring with a field goal.
The Golden Eagles begin Circle City Conference play next Friday at Brebeuf Jesuit.
