Guerin Catholic won its Circle City Conference opener in dramatic fashion Friday, as a basket with five seconds to go by Dylan Murans gave the Golden Eagles a 52-51 victory over Heritage Christian.
Jack Cherry lobbed an inbound pass to Murans, who was right under the basket for the easy layin. It was the last score of a tight game, one that saw Guerin Catholic lead 16-13 after one quarter. Heritage was still within 26-24 at halftime, and the Golden Eagles were able to slightly extend their lead in the third quarter, going up 41-37.
Lucas Parker set the tone by making two 3-pointers in the first period, and he made two more triples in the third quarter for a total of 12 points. Sorensen also scored 12 points, including a pair of 3s in the fourth quarter. Murans’ game-winner gave him 11 points on the night.
