Golden Eagles fall to Tri-West

Guerin Catholic fell in the championship game of Class 3A Sectional 29 Friday at Tri-West by the score of 21-12.

The Bruins scored the only points of the first quarter on a one-yard run by Jack Sorgi, giving them a 7-0 lead. Nick Wilson kicked a field goal in the second period, bringing the Golden Eagles within 7-3 at halftime.

Another Wilson field goal cut Tri-West’s lead to 7-6, but the Bruins pushed their lead to 14-6 after another one-yard TD run by Sorgi. Malcolm Houze punched in the ball from the one-yard early in the fourth quarter for Guerin Catholic’s lone touchdown of the game. Tri-West’s Derek Reid made a long run later in the fourth to seal the Bruins’ victory.

Houze completed 19 of 37 passes for 193 yards, with Hayden Cler catching eight of those throws. Jack Linden led the rushing with 99 yards.

The Golden Eagles finished their season 6-6.
