Golden Eagles fall to fourth-ranked Roncalli

Guerin Catholic dropped its Circle City Conference and regular-season finale at Roncalli on Friday, by the score of 24-14.
The Golden Eagles held the Class 5A No. 4 Rebels to a field goal in the first quarter, but Roncalli scored two touchdowns in the second period, and another in the third. Guerin Catholic didn’t quit, though, as Luke Keller threw touchdown passes in the fourth quarter.
Keller’s first score was an eight-yarder to Drew Thieme towards the midpoint of the period. Brendan Downey then took in a 17-yard pass with 1:28 remaining. In all, Keller finished 9-of-20 with 132 yards; Korbin Lane caught three passes, while Downey’s two receptions totaled 56 yards.
The Golden Eagles finished conference play 0-3, and completed the regular season at 6-3. Guerin will host 3A No. 10 Brebeuf Jesuit in the first round of Sectional 26 next Friday in a Circle City Conference re-match.
