Golden Eagles fall in top five clash

Guerin Catholic dropped a 66-51 game at New Palestine on Tuesday.

The Class 3A No. 3 Golden Eagles led early, enjoying a 16-8 advantage after one quarter. But the 3A No. 5 Dragons roared back in the second period, outscoring Guerin Catholic 25-9 for a 33-25 halftime lead. The Golden Eagles were within 48-41 after three quarters, but an 18-point New Pal fourth period clinched the game.

Bryson Cardinal scored 21 points, including four 3-pointers and also led the rebounds with seven. Ryne Paris contributed 12 points and made four steals. Jake Grissom dished out four assists and blocked two shots.

The Golden Eagles are 17-4 and play Friday at Danville.
