Guerin Catholic had a dominant first quarter at Heritage Christian on Thursday, and that gave the Golden Eagles a springboard to a 67-45 Circle City Conference win.
Guerin was relentless on defense in that first period, only allowing Heritage three points on its way to a 20-3 lead. The next two quarters were even, but the Golden Eagles still led 32-15 at halftime and 55-37 after three periods. Guerin Catholic then held Heritage Christian to eight points in the fourth.
Kaleb Edwards scored 15 points for GC, leading a parade of four players scoring in double figures. Will Grissom and Matthew Gillis each added 14 points, with Gillis pulling 11 rebounds for a double-double. Joseph Bobilya had 12 points and four assists.
The Golden Eagles are 2-1 in conference play and 13-2 overall. Guerin Catholic’s next game is Saturday at North Central.
