Guerin Catholic got a nice comeback win against a possible sectional opponent on Friday, Jan. 30.
The Golden Eagles outlasted Lebanon 55-53 at the Tigers’ Rosenstihl Gymnasium. Lebanon blasted off to a 20-12 lead after one quarter, then were up 29-15 during the second period. Guerin Catholic cut into that lead before halftime, getting within 29-19.
The Golden Eagles got going in the third quarter, outscoring the Tigers 15-8. Lebanon still led 37-34 going into the fourth, but Guerin Catholic continued to roll, scoring 21 points.
Jake Grissom had an outstanding game, scoring 27 points and collecting nine rebounds. Luke Keller added nine points and pulled five rebounds, with Andrew Reithman also getting five rebounds. Hayden Rogers made four steals.
Both teams will compete in Class 3A Sectional 25 at Frankfort.
