The Noblesville girls tennis team opened its season Friday with a 3-2 win over Cathedral at the Millers’ Tennis Complex.
The Irish won the Nos. 1 and 3 singles matches to quickly go up 2-0 in the meet. Noblesville got its first point at No. 2 doubles, with Jayde Stamm and Ava Shoemaker winning 6-2, 6-4. The Millers’ No. 1 doubles team of Lina Hamashuk and Cami Crist won a tough 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 match to tie the score, then No. 2 singles Allie Stamm clinched the team victory by coming back to win 4-6, 6-0, 6-4.
Noblesville’s next meet is Wednesday at Lawrence North.
