The Indiana Soccer Coaches Association released its girls soccer pre-season polls on Friday morning, and there were not many surprises as to who is highly-ranked on the Class 3A list.
The top team in the largest class is Noblesville. The No. 1-ranked Millers are the defending 3A state champions, beating Carmel 1-0 last year in the final. The Greyhounds are the No. 2 team in the pre-season list. Hamilton Southeastern is up there as well, with the Royals ranked No. 3 on the 3A poll.
Regular-season games can begin today, and how’s this for an opener: Carmel will play at Southeastern. The game begins at noon. Noblesville opens its season Monday and will get a good opponent as well: The Millers will host 2A No. 7 Cathedral in a 7 p.m. game.
Two more county teams are rated on the 3A list: Fishers comes in at No. 12, while Guerin Catholic is ranked No. 17. The Tigers play this morning at McCutcheon to begin their campaign, while the Golden Eagles are first in action Wednesday, hosting 3A No. 16 Zionsville.
Meanwhile, Hamilton Heights is rated No. 17 on the 2A poll. The Huskies will get a ranked team for their season-opener, playing at 1A No. 10 Heritage Christian on Tuesday.
The Hoosier Crossroads Conference is again looking strong, with six of the eight teams listed on the 3A poll. In addition to Noblesville, Southeastern, Fishers and Zionsville, Avon is rated No. 13, while Brownsburg is ranked No. 19.
