Girls soccer: Millers, Royals play to scoreless tie

The Noblesville and Hamilton Southeastern girls soccer teams played to a 0-0 tie Wednesday at Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex.
The game was both the Hoosier Crossroads Conference finale and the regular season finale for both the Class 3A No. 1 Millers and the 3A No. 5 Royals. Noblesville finished 6-0-1 in the conference and is 10-0-1 overall. Southeastern completed its conference season 2-1-4 and is 8-3-4 overall.
The Millers host Anderson Tuesday in the first round of Sectional 8. The Royals play Fishers in next Thursday’s sectional semi-finals.

Westfield beat 3A No. 20 Avon 1-0 on Wednesday in an HCC contest.
Talia Whitesel scored the Shamrocks’ goal, improving their record to 3-3 in the conference and 5-5-3 overall. Westfield plays at 3A No. 10 Zionsville on Saturday to wrap up HCC and regular-season play.

Hamilton Heights lost to Pendleton Heights 1-0 on Wednesday.
This was the regular-season finale for 2A No. 5 Huskies, who open play at the Yorktown sectional on Tuesday by taking on Delta.

Sheridan fell to 1A No. 13 Tipton 2-0 on Wednesday.
Blackhawks coach Brian Prange said his team “played a very solid game” from beginning to end. The Blue Devils scored their first goal on a first-half penalty kick, then added another goal in the second half.
Sheridan plays at Rossville this afternoon, with a 5:30 p.m. kickoff.
