Girls soccer: Millers, Greyhounds play to 1-1 tie

In a game between two soccer powerhouses, Class 3A No. 3 Noblesville and 3A No. 4 Carmel played to a 1-1 tie Monday at White River Elementary School.
The Greyhounds scored first, as Elyse Reed put a corner kick into the net in the 37th minute, with a double assist from Emily Speidel and Kelsie James. The Millers got the tying goal in the 53rd minute when Carly Hudnall chipped the ball in from 25 yards.
With the win, Noblesville is now 7-1-3 for the season. The Millers return to Hoosier Crossroads Conference play at 7:30 p.m. tonight by hosting Franklin Central.
Carmel is now 9-1-2 and hosts Brebeuf Jesuit on Thursday.

Hamilton Southeastern, the No. 1-ranked team in 3A, sailed past McCutcheon 5-0 in a Monday away game.
Five different Royals scored one goal each: Claire Wilkinson, Ashlyn Freeman, Maddie Bellaver, Ava Keaffaber and Ashley Wilson. Five different HSE players also made an assist: Layla Brown, Wilkinson, Wilson, Molly Harris and Nathalie McLeish. Shelby Schechter was the Royals’ player of the game as she made three saves in the second half to preserve the shutout.
Southeastern is 11-1-1 and hosts Zionsville tonight in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game. It will also be the Royals’ Think Pink night.

Sheridan picked up a 3-2 win over Eastern Monday in its Hoosier Heartland Conference finale.
Junior Makenna Hammack scored first for the Blackhawks in the 25th minute, sending a Jensyn Walker throw-in past the Comets’ goalkeeper from 18 yards out. In the second half, Hammack scored again, putting in a curling shot from just outside the penalty area.
Finally, Hammack assisted Sheridan’s third goal, which was scored in the 53rd minute. Hammack sent a hard cross to senior Hannah Lugenbeal, who kicked it in from five yards out. Eastern got two late goals, but the Blackhawks’ defense held on.
Fishers beat Harrison 7-0 on Monday.
The 3A No. 11 Tigers got two goals each from Maya Turner and Aubrey Robertson, with Jordan Imes assisting Robertson’s second goal. Kaysey Castro, Alli Mcbeth and Nicole Rueff all scored one goal. Fishers is 5-3-1 and plays at Avon tonight in an HCC game.
