All five starters scored in double figures as the University girls opened Pioneer Academic Athletic Conference (PAAC) North play Thursday with an easy 74-18 win over Anderson Preparatory Academy.
The Trailblazers were never threatened in the contest, jumping out to leads of 7-0 and 17-3 in the first quarter before holding a 24-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. University held the Jets to just one point in the second quarter and stretched its lead to 51-6 at the half as 11 Blazers saw action. University scored 32 consecutive points over an eight-minute stretch spanning the first and second quarters.
Kelsey DuBois led University with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Payton Seay tallied 16 points, four assists and three steals. Junior Kiera Bright added 12 points and handed out four assists. Jordan Patterson contributed 10 points with Taylor Seay adding 10 points and six steals. Sophomore Anyah Jordan-Turley had five steals.
University improved its record to 6-3, 1-0 in the PAAC North. Anderson Prep is now 7-2, 1-1 in the PAAC North. University has won 19 consecutive PAAC North games and is 25-2 all time in division games.
University will be back in action Saturday afternoon at Indianapolis Roncalli. Varsity tipoff is scheduled for approximately 1:30 p.m.

Carmel played tough against a good West Lafayette team on Thursday before falling 64-59 at the Red Devils’ gym.
The Greyhounds led 11-9 after the first quarter and 28-24 at halftime. Mallory Bourquein scored eight points in the half, while Izzy Shepherd and Hannah Lach both had two 3-pointers. West Lafayette came back in the third quarter to take a 44-41 lead into the fourth period; Shepherd nailed three more 3s to keep Carmel close. But the Red Devils edged out the ‘Hounds in the fourth quarter to get the win.
Shepherd finished the game with five triples on her way to 18 points. Lach totaled 13 points and Bourquein scored 10.
The Greyhounds are 0-8 and play tonight at Warren Central.

Guerin Catholic dropped a 52-40 game at Yorktown on Thursday.
The Golden Eagles led 17-10 after one quarter, with Reagan Haines scoring six points. Guerin Catholic led 26-22 at halftime. The Tigers cut that lead to 34-33 after three periods, then took control of the game by outscoring GC 19-6 in the fourth.
Natalie Fernandez led the Golden Eagles with 19 points.
Guerin Catholic is 3-5 and hosts Covenant Christian Saturday afternoon for a Circle City Conference game.
