The first Mudsock match of the 2017-18 season goes to Fishers, thanks to the No. 5-ranked Tigers golf team.
Fishers won a hard-fought match with No. 9 Hamilton Southeastern Tuesday, by the score of 166-167, at Sagamore Golf Club. Morgan Lewis led the Tigers with a 39, followed by Kennedy Brooker and Anna DelPrince with 42s, and Grace Brooks with a 43.
Other Fishers scores were Mary McGuire 47 and Brooke Wilson 48.
The Royals’ Haleigh Gray was the overall medalist, shooting an even par 36, including three birdies. Chelsea Morrow and Phyllis Cha both scored 43s, followed by Julia Eaton with 45, Nicole Dillow with 50 and Dagny Gladwell with 53.
The Westfield girls golf team won a four-way match at Prairie View on Tuesday.
The No. 1-ranked Shamrocks shot 147, ahead of No. 6 Carmel’s 158, No. 2 Zionsville’s 166 and Noblesville’s 204. Westfield was led by Jocelyn Bruch, who made five birdies on her way to shooting a 31 to win medalist honors.
Cailyn Henderson was next for the ‘Rocks with a 37. Emma Clary carded 38, a personal best for her in nine-hole matches. Adrienne Montalone scored 41, with Margaret Wentz and Natalie Shupe both adding 42s.
Katie Kuc and Elizabeth Hedrick were the low women for Carmel, each shooting 38s. Nina Hecht carded 40, with Erin Evans and Libby McGuire both scoring 42s. Alex Waples battled to a 45.
“It was a good match especially since it was the first day of school,” said Greyhounds coach Kelly Kluesner. “Everyone stayed focused…even through some tough holes.”
Taylor Keating led the Millers with a 45, followed by Sarah Hayes scoring 47 and Brooke Gigante 49. Other scores were Ellie Karst 63, Sarah Brenneman 64 and Taylor Caldwell 65.
Noblesville’s junior varsity golf team beat Zionsville 190-209 Monday at Harbour Trees.
