Hamilton County Reporter names Westfield’s Samantha Brown Girls Golf Player of the Year

The REPORTER

For the third year in a row, the Hamilton County Reporter is naming Westfield’s Samantha Brown as its Girls Golf Player of the Year.

Brown was a star for the Shamrocks right from the start, placing in the top 10 at the state meet as a freshman. Now a senior, Brown exits Westfield – and heads to Purdue University – as one of its most decorated golfers ever. Brown finished her high school career with an IHSAA individual state championship and helped the ‘Rocks to a team runner-up finish at state.

Along the way, Brown also picked up tournament victories at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet, where she was the medalist for the fourth straight year, and also won her third consecutive sectional title at Pebble Brook. Other important wins for Brown came at the Western Invitational at Chippendale, the Brittany Kelly Invitational at Woodland Country Club, the Lafayette Jefferson Lady Broncho Invitational and the Bloomington North Invitational, where she carded a round of 64, her lowest 18-hole score of the year.
