Girls basketball roundup: Sheridan wins sixth game in a row, Guerin Catholic falls to Cathedral

Sheridan’s girls ran their win streak to six games on Thursday, beating Rossville 56-19 in a Hoosier Heartland Conference game at Larry Hobbs Gymnasium.

The Blackhawks were in control the entire way, leading 17-6 after one quarter and 32-12 at halftime. Sheridan never allowed the Hornets more than seven points in any quarter.

Kenzie Garner drained five 3-pointers on her way to 22 points. Shelby Eaton scored 11, with three 3s, and Cecilia Timme added 10 points. Nova Cross and Garner both pulled seven rebounds, with Eaton collecting five. Eaton made six steals and Timme had four steals. Garner dished out four assists.

The Blackhawks are 2-1 in conference play and 6-2 overall. Sheridan plays at Tipton Wednesday.

Guerin Catholic dropped an away game Thursday at Cathedral, 51-32.

The Golden Eagles were tied with the Irish at 12-12 after one quarter, but Cathedral held them to one point in the second period and led 21-20 at halftime. The Irish outscored Guerin Catholic 30-19 in the second half.

Ava Bills led GC with 10 points.

Guerin Catholic is 4-6 and hosts Peru Saturday afternoon.
