Gerlene “Jeri” Burwell, 80, Sheridan, passed away at Sanders Glen in Westfield on September 20, 2019.
She was born July 16, 1939 at Moss, Tenn., to Lloyd and Betty (Strong) Green. She was a graduate of Jackson Central High School with the Class of 1957.
Jeri had worked at the former Hook’s Drug Store in Cicero as a cashier, then worked for several years with a children’s program at the Fishers Public Library. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church at Noblesville.
Jeri enjoyed going to horse races with her husband, doing water color paintings, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She married John Wilford “Jack” Burwell on March 8, 1974. He preceded her in death August 31, 2013. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by a son, Robby D. (Robyn) Woodruff, Sheridan; a sister, Mary Teeters, Kokomo; grandchildren, Travis Woodruff, Lindsey Shaffer and Logan Turpin; plus four great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero. Graveside services at Crownland Cemetery will be held at a later date.
