Gearldean R. Salyers

Gearldean R. Salyers, 82, Noblesville, went to be with her husband of 49 years and her heavenly Father on Thursday, January 2, 2025. She was born at her grandmother’s home in Pennington Gap, Lee County, Va., to Emery and Hazel (Surrett) Parsons.

Gearldean was well known for her contagious smile, her big heart, her tough-as-nails attitude, and the love she showed to others. Her greatest joys were her family, especially her grandbabies. Gearldean attended school in Puckets Creek and Pennington Gap. She worked at Riverview Hospital for 18 years in housekeeping before retiring. Gearldean enjoyed cooking, sewing, singing, listening to preaching, Bluegrass Gospel music, and family gatherings. She loved telling stories of her childhood to her grandchildren. Gearldean was known to her grandchildren as Mamaw and Maw. She was a member of Pentecostal Lighthouse Church in Noblesville.

Gearldean is survived by her daughter, Tonia Stapleton of Noblesville; son, Jason Salyers of Noblesville; grandchildren, Angel Stapleton (Dalton Rundle) of Noblesville, Ashley (Jon) Benjamin of Pendleton, and Katelyn Salyers of Noblesville; great-grandchildren, Garner Lutz, Loain Rundle, Copeland Benjamin, Lennon Benjamin and (coming soon), Presley Benjamin; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Hazel Parsons; husband, Billy Salyers; seven brothers, William, Jessee, Claude, Danny, Hans, Earl, and Phillip Parsons; four sisters, Joyce Ewing, Della Parsons, Alberta Flanary, and Delores Cochran.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville, with Pastor Alfred Parks will officiate. Gearldean will be laid to rest next to her husband, Billy, at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
