Foster Success selects new board members, reappoints board leaders

Indianapolis-based nonprofit Foster Success has selected four new Board Members and reappointed its Board of Directors’ Officers to a new term. The organization provides educational, financial, and social support to teens and young adults transitioning out of Indiana’s foster care system.

“Foster Success welcomes our new board members who bring great expertise to guide our impactful work into this next year,” Foster Success President and CEO Dr. Maggie Stevens said. “We are grateful they are sharing their talents and time to help advance our mission of ensuring every Hoosier who has spent time in foster care has the support they need to become successful adults.”

The four new members are Tina Gridiron, Dennis Martin, Lauren Smith, and Anne Valentine.

  • Tina Gridiron, Indianapolis, is Chief Impact and Learning Officer at ACT. She has served in leadership roles for multiple state and national nonprofit organizations. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from University of California, Berkeley and two Master’s degrees in Higher Education and Sociology from Stanford University. Gridiron was a founding board member of Foster Success.
  • Dennis Martin, Carmel, is President, Individual Life and Financial Services at OneAmerica Financial, where he has held multiple leadership roles for over 16 years. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Actuarial Science from the University of Manitoba. He is a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries and Canadian Institute of Actuaries, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. While part of his heart will always remain in Canada, he has made Indiana home, even appearing in the Hoosier by Choice video campaign.
  • Lauren Smith, Indianapolis, Founder of Earthlight.eco, an SBA-certified, woman-owned business offering greener corporate gifts, plastic-free Eco Name Badges and upcycled Rental Lanyards and ESG Consulting, and its sister ecommerce site, SustainableTravelAndLiving.com. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communications from Purdue University and earned an MBA from the University of California, Irvine.
  • Anne Penny Valentine, Carmel, is a Consulting Manager at Accenture working to support public sector clients. Before this role, she served as Chief of Staff for Indiana Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Butler University, earned a graduate certificate in public management from Indiana University Indianapolis and is the chair of the Indiana Arts Commission.

Each Board member will serve a three-year term.

Foster Success also reappointed its Board of Directors’ Officers to a new one-year term. Kate Hussey will lead as Chair of the Board, joined by John Totten as Vice Chair, Megan Savage as Secretary, and Marie Cameron as Treasurer.
