Dr. Joe Forgey of the Noblesville Schools Board of Trustees has today that he will seek reelection for a third term in the upcoming school board race. A longtime Noblesville pediatric dentist, Forgey was elected to the board in 2018, and his second term is set to expire at the end of this year.
“Noblesville is fortunate to have Joe Forgey serving on the Noblesville Schools Board of Trustees,” Mayor Chris Jensen said. “Dr. Forgey is the definition of a servant leader, and our community is a better place because of him. I am honored to support his reelection campaign and would invite all citizens to join me.”
Under Forgey’s leadership Noblesville Schools has seen multiple state and national recognitions for outstanding academic achievements, including being named in the top 1 percent nationally for STEM for nine consecutive years, National Advanced Placement (AP) honors, increased state standardized testing scores, and being designated a national Best Community for Music Education for 12 years in a row.
“As a longtime member of the Noblesville community and proud grandpa of 13, I care deeply about the quality of our schools,” Forgey said. “In my eight years serving on the school board, I’ve seen just how hard our staff and teachers work for our 10,000-plus students. The more I’ve learned about how others operate around the state the more I can say that Noblesville Schools really is a model district. I’m proud to play a part in that.”
Noblesville Schools graduates are also among the highest scholarship and advanced college credit earners in the state, with Noblesville recognized as a state and national leader in workforce development and college readiness.
Other accomplishments Forgey has overseen during his terms include:
- Recruiting and retaining award-winning superintendent Dr. Dan Hile
- Strong fiscal management including a decreased property tax rate for seven years in a row, an increased credit rating to the highest school level in the state, aggressive debt payoff, and the launch of the new Dollars + $ense financial site.
- Increased school safety, college/career readiness, suicide prevention and mental health support for students.
- Smart growth management including addressing essential facility renovations and expansions, and launching a district solar power initiative.
- Increased workforce development initiatives and community partnerships.
- High-quality staff recruiting and retention during an intense labor shortage.
“I’m running again because I want to keep this momentum going,” Forgey said. “My goal is to make sure our kids are ready for whatever comes next, while making sure we’re being smart with every tax dollar. At the end of the day, our schools are the heart of the community and when they’re doing well all of Noblesville does well.”
Forgey is a member of the Indiana School Board Association where he has been recognized for the highest level of individual school board member honors.
He also serves on the Noblesville Parks Board and is a graduate of Butler University, the Indiana School of Dentistry, and the Miller Ambassadors program. He has coached basketball at the Boys and Girls Club of Noblesville and soccer with the Noblesville Soccer Club.
