Following our lead

NMS Executive Director Kate Baker accepts a check for 100 Rubber Duck Race tickets from Duke at Johnson & Company. That’s doggone charitable, if you ask us. (Photo provided)

Five businesses get their ducks in a row

Two weeks ago, The Reporter bought 100 rubber ducky race tickets to support Noblesville Main Street’s (NMS) annual Duck Race taking place on Saturday, June 4. We said publicly that if our ducks win, the money goes to Prevail, Inc. We then asked others to step up and buy blocks of tickets to help NMS and any other non-profit of their choice.

Hamilton County is stepping up in a big way!

Next, Brandon Baltz from Noblesville Magazine bought 100 tickets and promised to give the winnings to charity if any of his ducks finish in the top three spots.

Then, Dick and Margaret Gordon bought 100 tickets. If they win, the money will go to the Bridge of Flowers project.

This week, Johnston & Co. bought 100 tickets and promised to give their potential winnings to a charity to be announced shortly.

And, just yesterday afternoon, Church Church Hittle + Antrim announced they are also buying 100 tickets and designating Janus Developmental Services as their charity of choice.

NMS is itself a non-profit organization, so there is still time for you to follow our lead and buy tickets to potentially help two non-profits at once. The duck race is Saturday. Buy your tickets at the Darlington Bed Race on Friday, June 3, contact any NMS board member or email NMS Executive Director Kate Baker at kate@noblesvillemainstreet.org.

Don’t let these companies deter you. Anyone can buy a ticket (or tickets) for $5 each and have a chance to take home $1,000 for first place or $500 for second or third. The rubber duck drop will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. With 2,000 ducks in this race, anyone can be a winner!
