Fishers had to come from behind in the fourth quarter of its Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at Franklin Central on Friday.
The Flashes had the Tigers down 15-14 early in the final period, but Fishers scored two touchdowns to escape with a 26-15 victory. The win gets the Tigers back above .500 in the conference at 3-2.
A Franklin Central touchdown with 10:21 left in the quarter gave the Flashes a one-point lead. Fishers got out of trouble thanks to a 51-yard touchdown pass from Lucas Minns to Aidan Zimmer, which gave the Tigers a 20-15 lead. Khobie Martin then sealed the game for Fishers by making a 10-yard run with 1:33 left to play.
“They’re a good football team,” said Tigers coach Curt Funk. “We knew it was going to be tough on the road. Our kids fought hard and they never gave up, and we learned a lot from this game. As a team, I feel like we’re a better football team now because of the struggle we had tonight against a good Franklin Central team.”
Martin had an efficient night, gaining 121 yards on 13 carries. Minns had a solid game, going 8-of-14 for 104 yards and the two scores. Jake Prewitt led the defense with 12 tackles, while Brady Wolf had 11 stops, including five sacks.
Fishers is 5-2 overall and hosts Westfield next Friday.
