Dear Editor:

Each day, Indiana sees countless illicit vapes enter our stores and schools. These vapes are largely unregulated and often from China, posing a dangerous health risk to teens and adults.

Thankfully, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita is looking out for us.

Last November, he joined a bipartisan coalition of attorneys general questioning Shopify’s role in the illicit vape market. Thanks to this inquiry, Shopify recently announced that it would ban vape products from its platform.

This is a major win for the health of Hoosiers. It also shows an ability to work across partisan and state lines to keep Indiana safe. Attorney General Rokita promised to protect Indiana from predatory practices and illicit substances, and he is following through.

We should all continue to be mindful of dangerous illegal vape products being throughout the state sold in physical locations as well. If you see retailers selling these products, speak up. Preventing the sale of illegal Chinese vapor products can make a real difference for the health and safety of our kids and teens.
