Fishers opens grant applications for neighborhood vibrancy, arts & culture

Grant programs aim to cultivate creativity, vibrancy, sense of place

The City of Fishers opened applications Monday for the 2022 Neighborhood Vibrancy Grant Program and the 2022 Fishers Arts & Culture Commission Grant Program. Applications for both programs will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2022.

“We are proud to offer another round of grant opportunities for neighborhood and art organizations within our city,” said Megan Vukusich, Director of Planning & Zoning for the City of Fishers. “Investing in projects that establish vibrant spaces and foster a sense of place influences our collective wellbeing and promotes pride in our community. This is the 22nd year for the Neighborhood Vibrancy Grant, formerly the Neighborhood Matching Grant, and the second year for the Arts & Culture Commission Grant. We look forward to another year of successful projects.”

The Neighborhood Vibrancy Grant is a matching grant program that provides funding for creative and innovative ideas that make the Fishers community a more beautiful place to live, and impact the lives of the community at large in a smart, vibrant, and entrepreneurial manner. Neighborhoods groups, homeowners, and homeowner’s associations within Fishers are invited to apply. Eligibility has been expanded in 2022 and now includes community engagement initiatives that contribute to neighborhood vibrancy, such as community gardens, playgrounds, and community gathering hubs.

Priority will be given to projects that have a focus on neighborhood beautification, public space improvements, recreation and public health, and environment and agriculture. Project examples include subdivision entrance beautification, tree plantings within common areas, native plant restoration, seating areas, walking trails and sidewalks, and more. Earlier this year, the Fishers Arts & Culture Commission (FACC) launched a new grant program aimed at nurturing creative partnerships within the Fishers arts community. The Commission awarded grants totaling $43,000 to 18 different projects in the first grant cycle. Funding for the grant program is allocated from the annual Fishers city budget.

For the 2022 program, grants will range from $1,000 to $5,000 and will be awarded to projects taking place within Fishers city limits in 2022. Projects can be exhibits, events, programs, displays, or other artistic or cultural expressions and should relate to two or more of the Commission’s core values: inclusive, authentic, engaging, collaborative, innovative, and educational.
