Dear Fishers residents,
As we close out 2021, I want to take a moment to reflect on this past year and provide some insights on what’s to come in 2022 in our community.
Fadness
Our city has been impacted by the same challenges other communities, our state, our country, and our world have been affected by. Fortunately, in true Fishers fashion, we hit those issues head on. Our community’s willingness to address issues aggressively and innovatively has served us well. Fishers is well positioned for the near- and long-term future.
In the coming year, you will see a new life sciences industry sector emerge in our community. National and international life science companies have committed nearly half a billion dollars of investment to make Fishers their home. These companies will bring great paying jobs and additional momentum to our already growing and dynamic economy.
Our strong economic performance has allowed us to make historic investments in quality of life.
In the coming year we will break ground on the Fishers Community Center that will include amenities such as aquatics, indoor courts, fitness center, and indoor playground. The city will also construct three key additions to our parks and trail systems with the Nickel Plate Trail, Geist Greenway, and Geist Waterfront Park. And lastly, the city, faced with extensive infrastructure challenges at the existing City Hall, will make a transformative investment in the arts by building a Fishers Arts Center in conjunction with the reconstruction of City Hall.
2022 is going to be a busy and exciting year. I am eager for our community to see these become a reality and enjoy these new additions to our city. As our community heals from the challenges and discord that we have all experienced over the last 24 months, know that your city’s leadership stands as optimistic and as energized as ever to make Fishers not only a world class city, but a truly great community.
